Daily life and vacation

Time flies so fast nowadays! I can’t believe my baby is almost six months already! Wow.

Emeline was just the happiest baby yesterday. She laughed and smiled all day  She also finally understood how to roll from back to stomach, so she’s doing it all the time. She even did a 60 degree turn in bed, then rolled around on her tummy and fell asleep on her face. Which freaked me out, so I had to turn her head.

Did I mention that we’re going to Germany on vacation? We’re gonna visit Husband’s parents, WITHOUT the dogs this time, and I’m so looking forward to it :) I also got a lot more holiday pay than I had thought, and although I need to save some of it up for December when I’ve asked for unpaid parental leave, I’ll have more than enough to spend on some much needed clothes! HUZZAH! Plus I’ve got some leftover Euros from the past vacations.

Here’s Emeline with her new sippy cup she got the other day. We thought she might learn how to drink from it since she doesn’t take a bottle, but I guess it’s easier to drink from a bottle after all. Anyway, she was super happy over getting it:

And this is from Thursday at the park :)

Picture update of the past week(s)

I’ve been busy with the little one, even this entry will take a couple of days to write…

So here is a quick update of what we’ve been up to.

Another picture of the 4 month old, just love that expression.

Constitution Day 2010

It’s been hot, hot, hot here, so Baby could finally use her short-sleeved onesies. Here’s one of the super cute ones she got from Anita. Oh, and please, please don’t mind mommy’s dorky face, this picture was the one that Baby looked the best.

We’ve been baby swimming! Baby loves to sit in the car boats, still not too fond of just hanging in the pool. Also here don’t mind mommy’s fat face — look at the baby! Too cute in a baby wetsuit :) Baby swimming

And last Sunday we went to a stroll at Bærums Verk. We sat down at the Dutch Pancake House. MMM! PANCAKES! Baby wanted to have a taste, but my plate had only no-nos for tiny four month olds. Too bad for Baby, but mom’s not complaining ;)

Maternity leave FTW! (Yes, I said it!)

I’m enjoying my maternity leave to the fullest! I can’t describe how happy I am nowadays. It’s almost like being in love, to have this not-so-little baby around. She actually rolled around from tummy to her back today, but I guess it was by chance.

She’s cooing, looking at her toys, trying to grab them, sucking on her hands, kicking her tiny feet in the air. And when her dark brown eyes meet mine, she stops what she’s doing for half a second, until… IT’S MOMMY! and her smile lights up her face. And her feet are kicking again. AWWW!

The family went shopping today. We actually needed a swimsuit for the baby (we start baby swimming this week!), swim caps for the parents, and after trying my old swimsuit, I needed one too. I mean, what was I thinking actually trying it on? I guess I thought I last used it in my late teens, but thinking about it now, it must have been in the 6th grade. What’s amazing, is that I can actually use it, I just don’t have much room for the mommy boobies… And with “can use it”, I mean I can get it on, but I look like a manatee.

Moving along… What we ended up with was the pinkest swimsuit for Emeline, some nasty swim caps for the parents (matching ones also!), and no swinsuit for me. Ahem. And tons of clothes for Emeline (Hello, sale!), tons of stuff from IKEA (Hello, IKEA!), and a bunny from Build-A-Bear (Hello, cuteness!).

And when we got home I bought plane tickets for a trip to Harstad again :) Can’t wait to see everybody again :D

Calendar frustration!

Hating the fact that shipping from the States (and everywhere else) is $%&# expensive when you live in Norway, and that shipping in Norway is &%$# expensive when you live in Norway. Why must the shipping cost the same as the items you want? Or even more? Or even half? It should be free. Yes, there I said it. At least almost free.

I’m browsing online shops with hungry eyes, but what I’m really looking for is a vintage-looking, cute 2010 wall calendar for the nursery. Suggestions?

Oh, btw, I’m trying to breathe life into my Norwegian blog again. If anyone’s interested ;) I also need links to Norwegian blogs or anything else Norwegian.

Just stuff

Sorry for the bad and few updates (maybe a good thing, huh?). I’ve finally had a normal day when it comes to food, and I hope it’ll continue like this from now on ;)

Was home on sick leave three days this week, and it really helped me getting better. Now I’m feeling fairly okay, and I hope I’ll be able to get to work at a normal time tomorrow.

What else is new? My friend Sunniva gave birth to a beautiful baby girl yesterday, and I wish we lived closer. Christian and I went to a birthday party for a girl he works with and got invited to yet another birthday party while we were there. We’re also going to Søren & Dagfinn’s EuroVision Song Contest party next Saturday, and that should be fun. And on Sunday we’re having a Constitution Day breakfast here before the madness downtown starts.

I’m beginning to have a social life again. And it feels damn good.

One of my Secrets

Well, not really a secret secret, but a couple of friends and I used to sing. Did I mention this before, maybe? Not sure. Anyway, we sung every day, 7 days a week, for hours. Well, until our parents told us to go outside and do normal stuff, haha.

I have to say that I’m sorry for everyone who had to listen to us, but I’d do it all over again if I had the chance :) While browsing around on Spotify I found one of the albums we used to sing to. Ah, good times! Listening to it now, 17 years later (my god, are we that old?!) it’s not that strange that we were not that good singers. What a horrendous record! :faint: Seriously! What were we thinking?

Sweet dreams are made of cheese

I’m having these very vivid dreams lately. Last night was about me and Line going to a Gavin concert. Suddenly I realized that I was naked, and needed to find a dress before the concert. No problem going around in Oslo city naked, but on a Gavin concert? No way! So we went everywhere not finding what I wanted until there; the perfect dress! But Line saw it first and wouldn’t let me get the same as her, so I was still running around naked :( The dream ended with me going home to get a dress (why didn’t I think about that before?), and I didn’t even get to dream about the wonderful magic that is a Gavin concert.

The night before that I had a dream about hanging on a paradise beach with John Mayer. Topless. WIth paparazzi all around us. I tried to cover up, but I had nothing to wrap around me.

Weird having two naked dreams in a row. It must have been decades since I had a dream like that…
