I got updates on how Aurora was doing at the farm, and on Tuesday I got a text saying they thought she was going to whelp the next day. I called Lise the next day and discussed if I was going to come that day or not. We both didn’t want to disturb Rora as she probably would be upset when I left if she didn’t have her puppies by then. So we more or less decided that I would come Thursday instead. As I was about to leave work I got a call from Lise again saying that I should just come cause it appeared to be happening soon. I got a hold of a colleague who was going there and got a ride from her, and while meeting up with her I got a new call from Lise saying Aurora had contractions!

It was a nerve-racking trip to the farm: Rush hour and updates from Lise and she at one point called to ask if we could pick up dextrose cause Rora was getting weak.

But when we got there she still hadn’t had her first puppy, which isn’t really a good sign, so we discussed going back to town for a cesarean section. Four hours after her contractions she had her first puppy, and it went smoothly for the first 6. We knew for sure it would be seven puppies, maybe eight, so we awaited the next. She was very tired so we gave her more dextrose. After 1.5 hours she had no. 7. And I could feel the eight in her abdomen. At about 22:30 the last one finally took her first breath. Poor Rora! She was so tired she fell asleep almost instantly.
